SAARC Car Rally 2007

The 1st leg of SAARC car rally arrived India (changrabanda) at 7.05 pm via Bangladesh-India border. The rally was directed towards Changrabanda Truck Terminal. A large number of local people and students turned up to cheer the rally by waving the SAARC flag.

Honorable State Minister of Food & Supply Shri Paresh Chandra Adhikari received the rally in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Mr. B.L Meena and Mr. Rajesh Sinha, DM, Cooch Behar.

A grand reception was organized and the Rally delegates were welcomed with Traditional "Khada" and "Tilak".

Mr Rajesh Sinha, District Magistrate gave the welcome speech. Mr Ajay Khanna Deputy Director General, CII introduced all the Team Leaders and briefed the guests about the significance of the SAARC rally. The Team Leaders also shared their views about the Rally followed by handing over of flower bouquets. The rally was entertained with Folk dance and traditional songs followed with a High Tea.

The rally was flagged off by the State Minister Sri Paresh Chandra Adhikari for Chalsa.

The rally arrived at the Chalsa Sinclairs Retreat at around 22:00 Hrs. They were given a warm welcome with traditional folk dance and "Dhak" leading the rally towards the parking area. They guest were received by Sri Ram Chandra Ranjit, District Magistrate with Khada and Tika along with welcome drink. After refreshment there was a dinner party along with a Ghazal programme.

On 19 March 2007 at 05:30Hrs the rally was flagged off by Mr B.L. Meena, Divisional Commissioner and the rally was piloted towards Jaigaon (India/Bhutan).

While entering Jaigaon at around 7:30 Am there were school children lined up on both sides of the roads cheering the rally. The rally was received by Sri Manahar Tirki the PWD minister. There was a small welcome speech and photo session with all the Team Heads. The rally was flagged off by Mr Manahar Tirki and headed towards Bhutan.
